What is Cone Penetrometer Testing (CPT)?
The cone penetration or cone penetrometer test (CPT) detects geotechnical engineering properties and delineates soil stratigraphy.
The CPT is one of the most used and accepted soil methods for soil investigation worldwide.
The mechanical cone penetration test consists of pushing a cone penetrometer by deploying a series of push rods into the soil at a constant penetration rate (20 mm/s). During penetration, discontinuous measurements (every 20 cm of penetration) of cone penetration resistance or tip resistance (QC), total penetration resistance and/or sleeve friction (fs) can be recorded. Measurements are carried out using sensors located at ground level.

Our CPT Rig
Our TG63 Pagani CPT machine performs exceptionally well in situ static and dynamic tests. Thanks to its semi-automatic anchoring system, it can be handled by a single operator, and it's an excellent solution for all those drawbacks that often limit the diffusion of static tests, considered some of the most valid ones for understanding the soil and subsoil. The test times are drastically reduced. Its tracks allow for maximum mobility even on the toughest terrains. With its three stabilisers and reclinable mast, the TG 63-150 can operate even on steep slopes, always keeping the penetration axis in an exact vertical position.
